Former Red Sox ace Chris Sale continued to dominate Wednesday. He earned a win over the Giants, allowing one run, three hits and two walks while striking out nine in 6 innings.

The 35-year-old lefty improved to 11-3 with a 2.71 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 127 strikeouts and 19 walks in 16 starts (99 ⅔ innings) for Atlanta. Opponents have batted just .199 against him.

He homered on the first pitch he saw against the Red Sox at Fenway Park last month. He went 4-for-14 with a double and homer in the three-game series in Boston. He has five defensive runs saved in 697 ⅓ innings in left field. Boston traded Verdugo to New York in December for reliever Greg Weissert and pitching prospects Richard Fitts and Nicholas Judice.

Justin Turner, Blue Jays: The 39-year-old DH is on paternity leave at the moment. He is batting .250 with a .359 on-base percentage, .375 slugging percentage, .734OPS, five homers, 15 doubles, 27 RBIs, 31 runs, 37 walks and 46 strikeouts in 74 games (284 plate appearances). Turner signed with Toronto in free agency in late January.

James Paxton, Dodgers: The 35-year-old lefty is 7-2 with a 4.28 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 53 strikeouts and 38 walks in 15 starts (75 ⅔ innings). Opponents are batting .247 against him. Paxton signed with the Dodgers in free agency in January.

John Schreiber, Royals: The 30-year-old righty has a 3.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 26 strikeouts and 12 walks in 38 relief outings (34 innings). Opponents are batting .267 against him. He has struggled since the beginning of May after a dominant first month. Boston traded Schreiber to Kansas City in February for pitching prospect David Sandlin.

Kiké Hernández, Dodgers: The 32-year-old is batting .201 with a .265 on-base percentage, .302 slugging percentage, .567 OPS, four homers, six doubles, 13 RBIs, 16 runs, 16 walks and 42 strikeouts in 62 games (196 plate appearances). Boston traded Hernández to LA last July. He then re-signed with the Dodgers in free agency during the offseason.

Christian Arroyo, Brewers: The 29-year-old signed a minor league contract with the Brewers in the offseason. He has been on the IL since April 27 with Triple-A Nashville. This is his second IL stint this year. He has been limited to three games (0-for-8 with two walks and four strikeouts) at Triple A.

Luis Urías, Mariners: The 27-year-old third baseman/second baseman went 12-for-79 (.152) with a .264 on-base percentage, .316 slugging percentage, .580 OPS, three homers, four doubles, 12 RBIs, eight runs, seven walks and 31 strikeouts in 34 games for Seattle before they optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma. He was removed from the 40-man roster June 4. Boston traded Urías to Seattle in November for right-handed reliever Isaiah Campbell.

Zack Littell, Rays: The 28-year-old, who pitched in two games for Boston last year before being designated for assignment, is 3-5 with a 3.94 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 86 strikeouts and 16 walks in 17 starts (91 ⅓ innings). Opponents have batted .284 against him.

Tayler Scott, Astros: The 32-year-old righty has a 1.44 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, four holds, 41 strikeouts and 21 walks in 39 relief outings (43 ⅔ innings). He appeared in four games for Boston last year before they designated him for assignment.

Before landing on the IL, the leadoff hitter is batting .304 with a .405 on-base percentage, .488 slugging percentage, .893 OPS, 10 home runs, 16 doubles, three triples, 40 RBIs, 50 runs, nine steals, 47 walks and 34 strikeouts in 72 games (331 plate appearances) this season. Betts has four defensive runs saved in 531 ⅓ innings at shortstop.

Xander Bogaerts, Padres: The 31-year-old is out with a shoulder fracture. He was batting .219 with a .265 on-base percentage, .316 slugging percentage, .581 OPS, four homers, six doubles, 14 RBIs, 23 runs, 12 walks and 40 strikeouts in 47 games (200 plate appearances).

Nathan Eovaldi, Rangers: The 34-year-old righty is 5-3 with a 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 80 strikeouts and 26 walks in 14 starts (80 innings).

J.D. Martinez, Mets: The 36-year-old DH is batting .277 with a .358 on-base percentage, .493 slugging percentage, .851 OPS, 10 homers, 14 doubles, one triple, 37 RBIs, 23 runs, 24 walks and 64 strikeouts in 57 games (243 plate appearances).

Andrew Benintendi, White Sox: The 29-year-old is batting .194 with a .245 on-base percentage, .298 slugging percentage, .543 OPS, six homers, seven doubles, 24 RBIs, 17 runs, 17 walks and 49 strikeouts in 68 games (261 plate appearances). He has negative-5 defensive runs saved in 538 innings in left field.
