Is a full motion TV mount worth it? ›

The full motion TV mount provides the most versatility due to its multiple pivot points which allow you to extend, tilt, swivel, and even rotate your TV. This is especially helpful if you want to mount your TV in a corner or recessed space, which, when extended, can give off a “floating TV” effect.

That means that any TV mount you buy should work, as long as it's rated for your television's size. Televisions use several different VESA pattern sizes. The most common are VESA 200x200 for TVs up to 32 inches, VESA 400x400 for TVs up to 60 inches, and VESA 600x400 for bigger-screen TVs.

In most cases, you'll be able to find your TV's VESA standard size in the user manual or on the manufacturer's website.

Full-Motion or Articulating TV Mounts

Full motion TV mounts (also called articulating mounts) allow the greatest range of movement for your flat panel TV. An articulated swing arm allows you to move the TV towards or away from the wall, tilt it up or down, and angle it from side to side.

A 43-inch TV should be mounted 56 inches from floor to TV center. A 55-inch TV should be mounted roughly 61 inches off the floor. A 65-inch TV should be 65 inches off the floor. And a 70-inch TV should be roughly 67 inches from the floor to the center of the TV.

We know the ideal environment to watch TV is around 32 inches or at eye level, but if you'll be lying down mostly, you can create similar conditions by mounting the TV about 25 inches from the floor, which is slightly higher than eye level.

As long as you're placing your bolts for the TV mount into to the wall studs, or if it is brick into a secure hole in the brick the weight will be no problem. If you just put the screws into the drywall, it will not be very secure. should not have a weight issue.

Do check TV height. While there's no set height for TV placement, ideally you don't want the TV to be too high. Staring up at a TV is like sitting in the front row of a movie theater. It's not ideal, not comfortable and not conducive to long viewing sessions.
